Process Variations (of the tab 'Process Automation) is a helper page for the identification of processes. Some processes can vary their name, title, path, window title or window class after a restart of the computer. Most of the time version numbers which are embedded in the string are the cause. Sometimes there are even GUIDs embedded in window names or titles. For Mighty Desktop to be able to still identify a process you can specify where the variable parts inside a name, path aso. are by writing a Regular Expression. In addition you can use '{Version}' as placeholder for a version number.

Some items are already predefined, they will get downloaded from the Atlas server if the list is empty. You can send us your suggestions by the Feedback button in the About tab.

Notes:

  • Don't forget "^" at the start and "$" at the end if a full match is intended

  • For matching 'PathName': The specified Regular Expression must match a pathname after possible environment variables were inserted.

  • Use the button 'Go To Process' to test an entry. It will display how many processes are matching each one of the Regular Expressions.

  • You can use the Text Expert tab with processing 'Encode Regex' to convert a pathname to a Regex.

  • You can produce a full textual description just by copying an entry in the data grid.
