Sometimes a video player can't play a video and just says "EAC3 is not supported". EAC3, short for Enhanced AC-3, is a newer format also called Dolby Digital Plus developed by Dolby Labs. It is incompatible with most older video players. Multimedia Xpert can play these files if you [Alt]-click the play buttons in the program.

The slower alternative you have is to convert the audio stream to MPEG-4 AAC. MPEG-4 (MP4) is probably the most widely used format today and thus playable by almost any video player. Converting audio is generally pretty fast, a few minutes for a common movie.

To convert only the audio stream, proceed as follows:

  1. Switch to the Convert tab and drop or select the video

  2. In the box Output Specification select the predefined specification "Video MP4 only Audio Conversion to AAC"

  3. Start the Conversion by pushing the button Convert.

If this does not result in a playable video, the video stream or other streams inside are probably the problem. In this case you can try to disable streams other than the video and audio stream in the Stream Selection column and convert again.

If this still does not work, only a full conversion remains:

  1. Switch to the Convert tab and drop or select the video

  2. In the box Output Specification select "Video H.264 Audio AAC"

  3. Optionally press right of it to switch to this Output Specification and set your desired Video Bitrate. 2500 is always a good value. Press Apply and .

  4. Start the Conversion by pushing the button Convert.
